This week is almost a period of hibernation filled with full of inactivity due to Eid holidays and the best chance to refresh my body system and the thought process. One of these days, I have been to Al Ain, another emirate in the UAE along with few work mates. We visited the Zoo and then to mount Hafeet. The zoo was very crowded due to holidays. But well maintained. Only problem is the climate. I am not sure whether all of these animals can sustain this heat. Most of them are very tired by posing to camera clad creatures outside their cage.
Mount Hafeet is a nice place to hang around and watch the city from the top. In the night, it was bit cold as it is the start of winter. But this small place also overcrowded due to holidays. All workers majority from Pakistan flooded the place. Most of them with white pyjama kurtha which resembles the typical pathan style of pakistan and afghanistan. Each group of people started dancing with traditional folk music from their car stereos. In between i could see some tamil guys dancing with the song "Daddy Mummy Veettil illa". Little out of place and funny. The place does not have much tourist facilities also. The top of the mountain has a car parking with a cafeteria. In the cafetria, you need to wait for 30 minutes to get a burger and 15 minutes for a tea. Probably you may get them in a quick turn around time during other days. The entire car parking was full of garbages with plastic papers and other stuffs. When we tried to go to a hot water fountain in Al ain, police didn't allow us in that route. Not sure what is the reason, may be time restriction or all of us are not locals.
As I am staying alone now and lazy to cook sometimes. So i went to try the andhra meals from Amaravathi, Bur Dubai. The Virunthu Bojanam is very good and decent here with Dhal, Some vegetable fry, Potato curry, ghee, Gonkura, Dhal powder, Sambar, Rasam and Curd. Its vegetarian and went well with my current ulcer stomach. There is a Maharaja Bojanam also. It got more variety. Need to try one day when really hungry.
One day I have ordered the lunch from Saravana Bhavan, Bur Dubai. They left me with only one menu, festival meals for Eid. Its 24 AED and had lots of varitey. 2 chappathis and Panneer Butter Masala which i had for dinner. Sambar, Rasam, Vatha kuzhambu, Potato curry, Avial, Vadai, Aval payasam, pickle, fruit salad, banana etc. I had the remaining vatha kuzhambu and rasam for next day morning with my own idli and again with my own rice in the next day after noon. The remaining potato from the meals made my job easy, not to cook additional curry for the day. In Dubai, the prices are reasonable for the indian food and free home delivery also available even if your ordering for a single dosa also. The same facility is not available in chennai.
Yesterday I was on to a movie marathon with 'The invention of Lying', 'The Great Dictator' and 'Baise Moi'.
The invention of lying is an exceptional and thought provoking romantic movie. Think of a world without lying, it will be very arrogant. What will happen if you say "Dont irritate me" when your wife waking you up from bed. What will happen if you say "The food is not tasty" to your wife when she got up for you early in the morning and preparing your lunch. We need to lie if its necessary for a good deed as advised by Mr.Valluvar, an ancient tamil poet. I am going to learn this art of lying, for good purposes.
The Great Dictator is a fantastic movie where Charlie Chaplin played a dual role of Hynkel (resembling Hitler) and a Jewish barber. It came in 1940 and still making us to laugh. Charlie Chaplin was a daring legend.
And finally this crap French movie 'Baise Moi' which literally means 'Rape me'. I dont know why french people are taking such crap films. Why they are portraying so much violence and nudity? But whatever you reveal, when there is no proper screen play or story, it will not be success.
One of these days, I went to Deira City Center (Cine Star Cinemas) to watch the movie 'Action Replay'. This movie is Ok, but not great as my last week flick at the same venue 'Social Network' based on the book 'Accidental Billionaires' which is really fun to watch and little thought provoking. Incidentally this movie and my resignation of job came in similar period. When I am thinking about the possibility for a start-up venture, this movie making me to think hard. Currently I have earmarked the following books for reading
