Recommendations to Election Commission

Fortunately i got the chance to vote this parliament election today due to my long sickness leave. People were eager to vote from the morning itself. 65 % turnout is a good number in Tamilnadu. All other booths were free other than the one where i cast my second vote of my life time. I found more people from lower and middle income group were very eager to vote than rich people. I was in the queue for more than a hour to register my vote as there was only one booth for both men and women. I was very keen to watch any malpractices in the process. But when i was there i saw that all things are happening in a fair manner.

I was thinking about how to improve the voting percentages and best practices...

1. Creating an option to vote through postal for all those people working in a different place for a shorter terms.

2. Online voting to make all educated people to vote with net banking kind of security encryptions and methods.

3. Bio metric features like finger print reading to avoid vote stealing. Because its very well working in my lap top. Say if India has 60 crore voters, it wont be a big task to get their finger print data in different servers. Storage wont take much size for a 60 crore people. Each voter's finger print should be mapped to an unique alpha numeric id. Even we can have multiple servers and backups in case of failure of one server. All the voting machines should be converted as an physical interface which can be connected to the Election commission's database through some wireless (Wi-Max probably) or wired connectivity (DSL or ISDN) . In voting booths, the election duty officer need to enter the voter's alphanumneric key to the machine through some input device (External Keyboard or built in keybaord) Then the voter has to swipe his finger print in the bio metric finger print reading slot. The device should read the finger print of the voter and send it to Election Commission's server along with the alpha numeric voter id. Election commission's server will match this finger print with the finger print in the database and authenticate the user to vote. It should show the green light to proceed to voting when it got authenticated by the server. When pressing the vote button by the voter, the number of the candidate should be sent as a input to the server. one count should be added to the the particular candidate according to the constituency of the voter. We can call it as BIPVM (Bio Internet Protocol Voting Machine) instead of current EVM.
When we gonna have all high speed wire less and wired connectivities, this is going to be possible. Any booth capturing wont help anyone as the results are immediately stored in servers. No vote stealing will happen as it requires bio metric authentication.

The same database of finger prints can be used for several people like Passport authorities, Transport authorities, Judicial authorities etc. It got more benefit. When the election commission can made it possible to issue all new voter ids to so many people in the country, recording the finger prints will also be possible. It wont take that much cost also.

Try this if any election commisioner has the courage and willingness to change the system .... At initial stages we can try this out for some selected constituencies....(Its absolutely feasible where we have all the facilities for high speed internet connectivity)
