The Butterfly Effect

Recently acquired sun tan, job responsibilities and the usual interest of watching movies kept me away from blogging. This week i watched so many movies. Out of that 3 movies are worth mentioning.
1. Anjaathey - Tamil
2. Dasaavathaaram - Tamil
3. The Butterfly Effect - English
I have to admit that the possibility of watching these movies came with the help of internet based resources only. Otherwise there is no way for me to watch those movies in this remote country. I suggest we can use this internet in more positive way for movies with online demand of movies for a price. It can create a new market and can elminate the piracy.
About the movies, Anjaathey is an excellent movie with a fine screenplay. The director Myskin impressed once again. His last (i think) movie 'Chitthiram Pesuthadi' was a great movie for a debutant. In his "Anjaathey", he portrayed a typical Police Quarters area and the characteristics of the boys of policemen. In some scenes, he visualised the disappointments and how insensitiveness became a part of life of a cop. He tried Pandiarajan, the usual Comedian actor as a villain and the handsome Hero actor Prasanna as another villain. It require courage to do these kind of experiments in tamil cinema. The experiments became success for the movie. Everyone performed well. Naren, Prasanna, Pandiarajan, Ponvannan, the new guy as Naren's friend and Vijaya lakshmi as his sister. I hope tamil producers should encourage this kind of young teams with new ideas. The only distraction in the movie is Prasanna's "I dont belong here" hair style.
The next is blockbuster "Dasaavathaaram". Apart from few distractions like comic make ups, sub standard graphics, all tamil people in US, magnifying virus in binocular and K.S.Ravikumar's approach of explaining complicated things to layman audience, this is one of the brilliant movie. We missed an international standard movie in few compromises. For some characters, Kamal could have tried something like Rajini's make over as Caucasian in Sivaji. Anyway this film made enough of controversies. As the "Kallai Mattum Kandaal" song goes, those who see this movie as atheist, they can get more atheist views and those who see this movie as devotional, they will not mind the atheist points. Some people in blogging community took their liberty of expression to abuse Kamal and the community he belongs to. Its so unfair and no one has the right or quality to comment about the efforts of Kamal and his community for his works. As for as my knowledge, there is nothing to complain concenptually. For making a record of doing 10 roles, there are some compromises in the screenplay. If Kamal can start directing regularly by holding his hungry for acting all possible roles in each frame of his movies, its very obvious that we gonna make world class movies soon. It reminds me of a joke which i recently read in another blog. "Kamal can show-off by playing 10 different roles in a single movie, but he is no match for Captain (Vijayakanth) who has played the same role in 100 movies!! "

Finally this movie "The Butterfly Effect" made me think and rethink about the possible turning points of my life. In this movie, the hero rewinds his life to some critical points and change his actions of that particular point. That action changes the entire life. Like that he changes his past actions many times. At each time, he suffers in one or other way for his actions. At final, when he change a preliminary action , he find himself in a decent status. So he stick to it and destroying his options of changing his past actions. It looks so stupid or impractical. But it stimulates a thought process in our mind about the critical or the so unimportant actions which changed our life and what we will do if we get an option to change them. In one or other way all the above mentioned movies are related to CHAOS THEORY.

I can recollect some critical points which may be the turning points...

1. Who am I now if i ignored the call of a friend for a "good for nothing" chat when i was 12?

2. What am I now if i acted differently when I offered with some intoxicating stuff?

3. Where am I now if i selected Science instead of Commerce in my Higher secondary when advised/compelled/threatened by a teacher to take up science.

4. What if i came outside for the new year celebration that year instead of kept myself locked in a dark room?

5. How am I now if i chose to call some people as Uncle and Aunty?

6. What if i chose to attend the other written test for some other company's interview on the same day of the written test for my current job's interview?

I cannot decide or find out more than six. But i dont want to change any of those...You try yourself...
